Autumn Herb Harvest + Sage Throat Soother recipe
Now is the time + a Sage Herbal Infusion for Sore Throats.
The shift is already happening. The light is softening, mornings are cooler, and the plants are beginning to draw their energy back down into the earth. This is your window to gather and preserve the medicine you’ll be grateful for come winter.
If you’ve got herbs growing in your garden or access to them nearby, this is the moment to harvest with intention. Before the cold really sets in, many medicinal plants are still vibrant, aromatic and full of their active compounds. Perfect for drying, infusing and storing.
Some of the simplest, most powerful staples to gather now are Rosemary, Thyme and Sage.
Rosemary is deeply warming and stimulating. It supports circulation, sharpens the mind, and helps ease tension headaches and fatigue. I use it often as a tea, a hair rinse, or infused into oil for sore muscles and scalp health.
Thyme is a strong, protective herb, especially for the lungs. Antimicrobial and soothing, it’s beautiful for coughs, colds and chest congestion. A simple thyme tea or steam inhalation can be incredibly effective through winter.
Sage is grounding and drying. It’s traditionally used for sore throats, excess mucus, digestion and hormonal balance. A warm sage infusion or gargle works wonders for a sore throat.
Sage infusion recipe:
Gather a small handful fresh sage leaves or 1 tablespoon dried
1 cup hot (just boiled) water
1 teaspoon raw honey
~ Pour hot water over the sage leaves
~ cover and let steep for 10 to 15 minutes then strain
~ stir through honey
~ sip slowly, or use as a soothing gargle
This can be taken a few times a day when needed to treat a sore throat. Simple, effective, and made from what’s already around you.
These herbs are easy to prepare and store. Dry them well in a warm, airy space out of direct sunlight, then keep them in jars ready for winter teas and remedies. Or take it a step further and infuse them into oils, tinctures or syrups while they’re still fresh and potent.
This is exactly the kind of knowledge I’ve brought together in my Grassroots Herbalism Guide.
It’s designed to take you beyond just picking herbs, and into confidently turning them into usable, effective remedies for yourself and your family.
Inside, I walk you through how to make
