Thread Journeys / Textile Tours ~ The next evolution of my offerings
If you've been following my journeys you'll know that the last few years I have travelled to Indonesia: Java, Flores, Lombok, Bali. I thought I was going for the adventure and nature, but instead fell in love with the traditional weaving practices and handmade and naturally dyed textiles.
Along the way I sought out and immersed myself in natural dyeing, indigo dyeing, batik, ecoprinting and leather ecoprinting workshops. I visited local women's weaving co-operatives and bought hand made textiles directly from the makers. I met so many wonderful people & I still remember the person, the face, the story, the setting where I sourced every single textile.
My intention is to offer guided textile tours abroad. Just like in my past travels we will immerse ourselves in the local textile culture.
With this intention in mind, next week I depart for GUATEMALA.
I'm beyond excited to immerse myself in the natural dyeing, weaving and embroidery practices that still form part of everyday life in Guatemala.
Whilst there I will be seeking out the best / most appropriate courses, workshops, collectives & accommodation.
Yes this is a slight plot twist from foraging, but you must know how I roll by now...I just follow my passions and this is where they are taking me right now. Oh what a wonderful wild ride.
