Thread Journeys Draped Shawl ~ Onion Skins
Elegant, fluid and beautifully understated.
An original Thread Journeys design, the Draped Shawl is a modern interpretation of the traditional shawl, thoughtfully designed as a wearable garment rather than simply a wrap.
Crafted from beautiful 100% merino wool, 200gsm, it is soft, lightweight and naturally warm, with a beautiful fluid drape. The wide shape falls elegantly around the body, with long, flowing arms and a softly cropped silhouette. Designed to be worn open, it creates an effortless layer that moves beautifully with the body.
Each Draped Shawl is individually plant dyed and botanically printed by hand, allowing the colours, textures and impressions of the leaves to become part of the fabric itself. No two pieces are ever quite the same.
The generous shape creates an elegant silhouette without feeling restrictive. Wear it loosely over a simple dress, layered with linen or paired with trousers for a more contemporary look.
Soft yet substantial, luxurious yet easy to wear, the Draped Shawl is a versatile piece designed to bring warmth, movement and quiet luxury to the wardrobe.
Handmade slowly and intentionally on the Kāpiti Coast, New Zealand, each piece celebrates natural fibres, botanical colour and the beauty of clothing made by hand.

Botanical Printing / Natural Dyeing / Ecoprinting is a slow process where fabric is dyed and printed using the natural tannins, colour and impressions of botanicals — plants, leaves, roots, bark, flowers and more. Much like our ancestors did for generations, clothing can be coloured using nature's abundance without the use of synthetic dyes.
The colours are truly natural, created from botanicals gathered from my garden and foraged around my local surroundings, reflecting the colours, textures and ever-changing seasons of the Kāpiti Coast.
